Le borse futures:
Il mercato degli investitori sulle materie prime (MP) è la borsa futures: qui si "scommette" sul prezzo che le MP avranno nei mesi futuri, ma non avremo mai nessun contatto fisico con quest'ultime.

A Londra (Liffe) e negli USA sono situate le principali borse futures. Alcune delle più importanti degli Stati Uniti sono le seguenti:

- Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT)
- Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME)
- Coffee, Sugar, and Cocoa Exchange (CSCE)
- New York Cotton Exchange (CTN)
- New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX)
- Commodity Exchange (COMEX)
- MidAmerica Commodity Exchange (MACE)

Chi vuole fare trading ad esempio sulla carne, dovrà rivolgersi alla borsa che tratta futures sulla carne: ogni borsa tratta futures su materie prime differenti.
